Charleston Battery’s Three Attacking Forwards

An Oak Hill Academy alumnus, Andrew Khoury is studying kinesiology at Charleston Southern University in South Carolina. When he isn’t studying, Andrew Khoury works as setup manager for the Charleston (South Carolina) Battery soccer team.

In addition to its three goalkeepers, nine midfielders and six defenders, the 2018 Charleston Battery features the following three forwards:

1. Gordon Wild — A 5-foot-10, 172-pound native of Leonberg, Germany, Wild is in his first season with Charleston, on loan from Atlanta United. A University of Maryland alumnus, he scored 38 goals in 56 career games at the college level and was selected 37th overall in the 2018 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

2. Patrick Okonkwo — Another first-year player on loan from Atlanta United, Okonkwo is a 19-year-old native of Lagos, Nigeria, who scored 26 goals in 29 games with Atlanta’s U.S. Soccer Development Academy squad.

3. Ian Svantesson — A 24-year-old native of Orlando, Florida, Svantesson is in his first season with the Battery after playing for Rayo OKC and the Tulsa Roughnecks, where he led scoring with 11 goals in 30 games. Svantesson is an alumnus of the University of Alabama Birmingham.
